Gemma Fraser is head of content at 1919, responsible for writing and editing news and features articles for the magazine. Gemma covers a range of topics around policing and criminal justice, and regularly carries out in-depth interviews with key players in the sector. Gemma’s policing exclusives for 1919 are routinely picked up by the national media.
Before joining 1919, Gemma’s 20-plus years in journalism have seen her write for a broad range of publications, including The Times, The Mail on Sunday, and Holyrood Magazine. She also spent almost a decade working for The Edinburgh Evening News and Scotsman Publications as education correspondent and on the news desk.
In 2020, Gemma was named Scottish writer of the year in the Professional Publisher’s Association’s national awards.
